Picture #2: The Meikleour Beech Hedge, Perthshire

Meikleour Beech Hedge

This hedge is said to be the tallest of its kind in the world! It is 30 metres (100') high and lies alongside a relatively quiet country road near Blairgowrie, where it borders the Marquis of Lansdowne's home! Don't even think of shearing it by hand but when it starts to overhang too far, it is cut back mechanically once every ten years or so.
